Did You Know?
Volunteers deliver 25% of our community service.

Hope Is Here
Cancer Services is a United Way partner agency supported by the generous contributions of four area United Ways, community foundations, and contributions from individuals who believe in our mission "To enhance the quality of life for those living with cancer and to provide the gift of life through education." 91% of funds go directly to providing programs and services at no cost in our four-county service area of Forsyth, Davie, Stokes, and Yadkin Counties of North Carolina.

Patient Advocacy & Information
Cancer Services, Inc. is a community portal of information for cancer patients, and we provide assistance to clients by identifying resources throughout the local community. Individuals needing referral to other agencies also receive that information through our Info & Referral program.

Patient advocacy is an important component of this program, too. Individuals are encouraged to contact our Patient Advocate Linda Miller for more information.

Medication & Financial Assistance
For clients who meet eligibility requirements, we can provide financial assistance to purchase cancer specific medications or other cancer related needs. We also offer emergency financial assistance on a case by case basis, and nutritional supplements and ostomy supplies based on need. To schedule an interview, please contact our Assistant Director Billie Albert.

Pink Broomstick® Support Program
Through this program, women who have had a mastectomy or lumpectomy are matched with an agency volunteer who has had the same surgery. The volunteer will visit the woman to deliver literature, a temporary prosthesis, rehabilitation exercise information, and provide emotional support.

Many women are referred to this program by their surgeon, however a referral is not required. Pre-surgery visitation is also available by surgeon or patient request. If you or someone you know would like to learn more about this program, please contact our office.

Equipment, Supplies, Wigs & Prostheses
During cancer treatment and even beyond, individuals may require supplies such as wheelchairs and shower stools, or ostomy supplies, temporary prostheses or scooters. We have a large selection of these supplies and more. Cancer patients are encouraged to call or visit our office to borrow these items.

Please contact us if you need something not listed.

Peer Support for survivors
For many cancer survivors, peer support can be helpful during and after treatment. Our Peer Support Program coordinates trained volunteer cancer survivors with individuals to offer support via telephone or email. For more information on this confidential service contact Julie Lanford.

Resource Lending Library
With over 300 titles, our resource library is a valuable tool for gathering information about your specific cancer-related needs. Books may be checked out for a two-week period. Stop by our office to browse our selection or contact us if you would like for us to mail you a specific title. If you can't find something you're looking for, let us know and we'll order it!

Transportation to Treatment
For individuals in Davie, Stokes and Yadkin counties transportation is provided to radiation appointments. Please call us at (336) 760-9983 to make arrangements in advance. For more information or to arrange transportation contact our Outreach Coordinator Anna Cohn or call our main office.

Early Detection & Cancer Screening Community Education
We are spreading a message of prevention and early detection throughout the community. From health fairs to collaborative screening efforts, Cancer Services is teaching all age groups about cancer. Educational programs are free of charge and can be hosted onsite or at our offices. If you are interested in hosting a topic of interest contact Julie Lanford

"Survive and Thrive" Wellness Groups & Programs
For many cancer survivors and their families the greatest need is emotional and educational support. A collaborative effort, Cancer Services Inc., Forsyth Regional Cancer Center, and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center offer a variety of settings for emotional and educational support. For more information on any "Conversations On Cancer" programs contact Julie Lanford.

Here's what Wellness Group Members have to say about Cancer Services...

"After going through chemo and radiation, my wellness group allowed me to be with others who had gone through or were going through the same things." ~ Jean P. Heath

"It has helped me realize some of the side effects I thought were abnormal were reactions others had also.  But what has helped me the most is the friendships I have formed and the encouragement I have received." ~ Marian Huffman
